Frequently Asked Questions

  • Congratulations on taking the first step towards holistic dental care. If you’re seeking a dentist that considers whole-body health, you’re in the right place. We’re happy you’re here. To get started, simply call (701) 343-9993 and ask to schedule a new patient consultation with Dr. Dwyer. She will reserve one hour with you to thoroughly go over medical and dental histories, complete a new patient exam (check for cavities), and answer all your questions related to the holistic dental care she provides in a 1-on-1 setting.

A $250 dollar deposit is required at time of booking and is nonrefundable. This deposit covers a new patient dental exam and Dr. Dwyer’s biological expertise as she takes her time explaining all facets of holistic care (as opposed to a conventional “5 minute check” you’d receive in a traditional dental setting during a cleaning.) If you’re seeking personalized, intentional care that considers your entire body, this is where to start.

  • While Dr. Dwyer enjoyed providing this “concierge service,” the demands have grown too great for her to personally return every phone call while also treating patients. It’s best to call (701) 343-9993 and speak with the front desk staff to schedule a new patient consultation (see first FAQ). Upon booking and submitting your $250 deposit, all questions will be addressed in a timely and thorough manner.

  • Due to the holistic, “unconventional” nature of Dr. Dwyers services, insurance providers typically don’t provide coverage.

Furthermore, Dr. Dwyer prefers to maintain independence from insurance providers, as it allows her to prioritize treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs. This approach enables her to provide the highest level of care without being constrained by external companies, ultimately fostering a patient-centered experience.

  • Patients can try to submit their “walk out statements” themselves, but it likely won’t help. Since Dr. Dwyer is not a provider or in network, you will not get reimbursement.

  • Not at this time. Full payment is required at the beginning of service.

  • Yes! Dr. Dwyer still does routine fillings and crowns.

  • There are two main differences between the two:

    1. Dr. Dwyer offers biocompatibility testing if requested. (This is a blood draw/lab test which tells the patient which dental materials trigger the least/most inflammation in the body). Following the results, she carefully selects the least-toxic filling materials, cements, etc.

    2. Dr. Dwyer can apply ozone onto the tooth/teeth during restorative treatments, if requested.

  • Yes. Dr. Dwyer offers teledentistry appointments to better accommodate patients from out of town or those unable to physically come to either location. Many patients also choose this option for “second opinion consults.” Call (701) 955-4559 to set up the consultation today.

  • By no means! Dr. Maria Dwyer understands her “specialty practice” is NOT what everyone wants or needs. Each individual has very unique needs, interests, and health journeys and she wants to honor that. Dr. Maria Dwyer's goal is to empower and equip those interested in taking their health to the next level by optimizing their oral health and helping people understand the connection between mouth and body. She takes no offense to those who, for whatever reason, decide it’s not a good fit and will happily refer to other trusted dental colleagues and specialists. Patient comfort and satisfaction is her top priority.
